Welcome to the Community of Reason!

We are a community of persons, based in Kansas City Missouri who are lovers of truth, reason – and people.

Our by-laws state that we are “…an educational organization created to foster a community dedicated to improving the human condition through rational inquiry and creative thinking unfettered by superstition, religion, or any form of dogma. It operates in an open, democratic manner, without discrimination with respect to age, disability, ethnic origin, gender, nationality, race or sexual orientation.”

Our goal is to address a wide range of topics that include issues from science, philosophy, economics, social and political realities, ecology, the environment, art and the quality of life, the individual and moral concerns.

One of our major activities is a weekly Sunday presentation at UMKC, Haag Hall, Room 301. The format of this program is a presentation on a topic of interest, followed by a question-answer period. Please see the right panel of this page for this week and next weeks program.

We are open to the public and welcome everyone.

Participation in all our social and public functions does not require membership. Please refer to the tabs above for more information about us, about membership and topics we have featured.

Our other activities include:

  • a weekly Skeptical Religious Studies at UMKC, Haag Hall, Room 307 at 10:30 am.
